The TFOS provides participants with an assessment of current knowledge and the state of research on the structure and function of tear film-forming tissues, tears and the ocular surface in health and disease, as well as a collegial exchange of information that will be of benefit to basic scientists in ophthalmic research, clinicians in ophthalmology and companies with an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of tear film and/or ocular surface disorders.
